How do I pay?

All fees are due in full at time of service. We accept major credit cards, cash, traveler’s checks, or credit card payment through PayPal.

Do you accept health insurance?

Although most insurance companies will reimburse a portion of the visit or apply the amount to your deductible if it has not been met at this time, we do not accept insurance in the traditional sense. We will provide you with the documentation that can be submitted to your health insurance company for reimbursement. Many House Call Doctor patients have been receiving partial reimbursements from their private health insurance companies. They average as much as 80%, which means that the true cost to the patient for a visit could be a lot less after receiving reimbursement. Many health insurance companies have reimbursed many of our patients a portion of their House Call Doctor visit through the “out-of-network” option of their PPO or HMO plans. However, please be aware that House Call Doctor does not guarantee any reimbursement, and that many types of health insurance products exist within each individual plan.

Do you take Medicare?

We are non-participating providers for Medicare. We do require that all fees are paid at time of service.

Yes, House Call Doctor LA is an at-your-door service. We will come to your office, home or hotel 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

House Call Doctor is not an Emergency Room replacement and we do not treat patients experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, head trauma, loss of consciousness, or other life-threatening emergencies, as these conditions may require immediate hospitalization. What if the physician decides my illness requires additional testing and/or treatment?

House Call Doctor Los Angeles provides all additional testing (e.g. x-rays, EKG, ultrasound, etc.) in the comfort and convenience of your home or hotel suite, and can provide referrals to any specialty if needed.

May I utilize your House Call services while I still see my regular physician with whom I have a long term relationship?

Yes! Being physicians we understand the tremendous value in long standing Doctor Patient relationships. We will confer with your physician and coordinate your care together.

Currently we cover the Los Angeles and Greater Los Angeles Area; however we are continually expanding our coverage area. Please call us for exact details. Special arrangements are available for patients in other areas.

If the need arises which hospitals are you affiliated with?

We have relationships with almost all greater Los Angeles hospitals and either we have admitting privileges or have an associate that is on staff at the Hospital ensuring continuity of care. We are also able to facilitate referrals to specialists when needed.

Are you affiliated with a hospital?

YES. All of our physicians are staff members of local hospitals and are able to facilitate referrals to specialists when needed.

Do you draw labs or take x-rays?

We do offer a variety of laboratory tests and studies that can be completed in the home, hotel or workplace. Blood work can be drawn and delivered to local laboratories when necessary. X-rays and ultrasound can be ordered to be done at your home. Additionally, we are affiliated with local imaging centers/hospitals and can schedule CT scans and MRI's.

What if I need to go to the Emergency Room?

In the event that your medical condition is determined to be more emergent after initial examination, our physicians will contact local emergency department staff and coordinate your transfer. This will save you valuable time and allow you to avoid long waits in the ER.

What if I need to be admitted to the hospital?

Our physicians work directly with hospitalists throughout the area. We will coordinate admissions with hospital staff when required.

What if I need a specialist?

We are affiliated with leading specialists in the area and can facilitate a consultation when required.

Do I have to be a member of House Call Doctor Los Angeles to have a Physician visit me at my home, office, or hotel?

What happens during a typical house call visit?

After introductions, your doctor will perform a thorough history and physical examination appropriate for your specific complaints and will then recommend the appropriate treatment options. After all of your questions are answered, instructions are given, and paperwork is completed, your doctor will depart. However, you will continue to have direct telephone access to your caregiver for any follow up questions or needs that may arise, and the physician will call you within 48 hours to ensure your symptoms are improving. In most situations, your house call physician will offer to leave your medications with you so that you can avoid a trip to the pharmacy. Alternatively, written or telephoned prescriptions are always available.

Do you offer X-ray and ultrasound services?

X-ray and ultrasound services are available to be brought to you upon request. A certified x-ray technician brings a portable x-ray machine to your home, hotel room, workplace, or wherever you are. The x-ray images are processed on site, and films are reviewed by your house call physician or a board certified radiologist. Copies of the images may be provided to the patient upon request. Various portable ultrasound studies are also available. Additional studies, including CT or MRI may be completed at a radiology center of your choice.

I’ve got a hangover, can you help?

Yes! While the instant cure for the common hangover remains elusive, many patients swear by IV hydration therapy as a means of speeding recovery. Hydration is importantfollowing overconsumption of liquor because alcohol, as well as other substances, can make us extremely dehydrated. Returning water to a patient’s system can help a great deal with many of the most unpleasant hangover symptoms. Most of Dr. Farzam’s hangover patients opt for a Myer’s cocktail, a popular hydration therapy which adds a number of vitamins and nutrients which excessive partying may have depleted.

I’ve been hearing about Myer’s cocktail and IV hydration therapy? Do you offer them and what are they, exactly?

Yes. IV hydration therapy is just what it sounds like. It involves adding water rapidly to the system intravenously. This is useful whenever patients are badly dehydrated either by an illness, excessive heat and/or exertion, or substance abuse such as excessive drinking. The Myer’s cocktail is a special form of hydration therapy that adds a number of nutrients to the hydration. Many people find that this can be helpful for restoring energy and vitality as well as for treating certain maladies including chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and severe fevers. Dr. Farzam also frequently provides it for patients complaining of a hangover.

Do you offer functional medicine?

Yes.
